`NBA 2K9 Adds ‘Living Rosters’

`NBA 2K9 creator 2KSports has finally revealed its answer to NBA Live ’09 ’s dynamically updated
`player stats: A near-doppelganger of Electronic Arts’ system dubbed "Living Rosters."
`
`"When the Living Rosters feature is activated and a gamer signs in online, the game automatically
`checks for Living Roster updates in order to download the latest real-life player information in a
`seamless process behind the scenes," the official description states.
`
`Like EA’s system, the game will automatically use this data to alter player attributes and tendencies
`within the game.
`
`With “Living Rosters" and EA’s "Dynamic DNA" being the most important additions to a sports game
`in years, the (critical) success of each basketball title will almost certainly come down to the quality of
`their dynamic roster system. Honestly I don’t care who wins, I just hope either company implements a
`system as useful as the one I’m envisioning based on what we’ve been promised.

`To show street cred, the Mavericks’ Josh Howard has already come out and rolled both games into a
`joint, smoked it while singing “Oh, Canada!” in front of WW2 veterans, and then kicked David Stern in
`the nuts. The league is expected to “frown upon” such practices.
