A TAKEAWAY FROM THE FERC’S DECISION ON CP18-46-004
`
`
`THE PUBLIC WAS GIVEN FIFTEEN DAYS TO COMMENT ON ADELPHIA GATEWAY’S REQUEST FOR AN
`EXTENSION OF TIME TO COMPLETE THEIR PROJECT
`
`THE FERC GAVE ADELPHIA GATEWAY ANOTHER EIGHTEEN MONTHS TO COMPLETE ITS PROJECT
`
`
`
`The public has not been given an adequate opportunity to be heard – from the private-room
`FERC transcripted comment proceedings at the outset of this project to the lack of adequate
`notice for public input regarding extension of time requests, this entire docket should be
`retroactively reviewed by a third-party – that the public interest might be fairly considered.
`
`Allowing for-profit corporate interests to supersede the interests of the people and the public
`good has gone on for far too long and any supposed public need for this project needs to be
`immediately reevaluated.
`
`The FERC did not adequately consider the reasonable alternatives, any renewable
`alternatives or even the Best Available Technologies for this project.
`
`The irreparable harms that have already resulted from the Adelphia Gateway Pipeline Project
`are an unacceptable compromise. The *degree of all of the harmful compounded impacts*
`may not be fully evident now, however, this does not excuse the FERC from giving these
`issues due consideration.
`
`From the detrimental impacts of this project on our communities to the climate impacts that
`have not be sufficiently considered, the Adelphia Gateway pipeline is no less dangerous or
`harmful simply because this decades old pipeline is already in the ground. Quite the contrary,
`actually.
`
`Please immediately reconsider any/all approvals for the Adelphia Gateway Pipeline – this
`project is a danger to the health, safety and welfare of our communities.
