`
`Please DENY GTN Xpress” deadly pipeline expansion
`Monday, October 16, 2023 11:57:47 PM
`
`HI Ms Clements,
`
`My nameis Rosalie McDougall, and | live in Portland, OR and am a memberof 350PDX, and a
`womanwhohopestolive to an age to walk hand in hand with my husband while my children -
`hopefully! - raise their children and play along the banksof the Willamette and Columbia, and
`through the glorious forests of OR.
`
`The TC Energy permit to build the GTN Xpressis at grave odds with a healthy future for usall in
`Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and British Columbia.
`
`I’m writing to urge all FERC commissioners to deny TC Energy the permits needed to build the
`GTN Xpress methane gaspipeline expansion. If the expansionis built it would add more than
`3.47 million metric tons of greenhouse gasses emissions per year. This is the equivalent pollution
`of adding 754,000 passengervehicles a year on the road each year until 2052!!!.
`
`Weall knowt this expansion would accelerate climate change and harm public health in
`communities across the pipeline route. | am asking you and FERC to make goodonits
`commitments to developing robust environmentaljustice and greenhouse gas emission
`standards. As climate events like extreme wildfires, droughts, and flooding plague the Pacific
`Northwest, our communities musttransition off fossil fuels to avoid the worst impacts of climate
`change.
`
`This project is inconsistent with Washington’s and Oregon’s lawsthat require decreasing climate
`emissions by 95% and 80%, respectively, by 2050. GTN XPress would raise state emissions
`making these targets even harderto reach. In a collaborative motion, the Attorney Generals of
`Washington, Oregon, and California are calling on FERC to issue a denial.
`
`The GTN XPressbenefits fossil fuel corporations while burdeningutility ratepayers. Continued
`investmentin fossil fuel infrastructure is a path to nowhere, expensive and at odds with the
`declining costs of renewable energy.
`
`| urge you - think 2, 3 even 4 generations ahead and deny TC Energy’s plan to build the GTN
`Xpresspipeline expansion. You have the power. Please act for all our futures!
`
`Thank you,
`
`Rosalie McDougall
