`
`STATEMENT OF PROBABLE CAUSE
`
`2
`
`On April 2, 2022, Burnsville Police responded to a pawn shop located on the 13900 block of Grand
`
`Avenue South, City of Burnsville, Dakota County, Minnesota, for a reported check fraud.  Upon arrival,
`
`Officers made contact with staff regarding the check fraud.
`
`Pawn shop staff stated they received contact from the owner of a check cashing kiosk at the store,
`
`who indicated a female using an ID listed as MORGAN ADALAIDE JEDLICKA (DOB: 06/07/1999) just
`
`attempted to cash fraudulent checks.  Pawn shop staff attempted to speak with the female during the
`
`transaction, but she exited the store and left in a vehicle.
`
`The female attempted to cash two checks at the kiosk.  The first check was written from Business 1
`
`for $995.21 to Morgan Jedlicka.  The second check was written from Business 2 for $995.54 to Morgan
`
`Jedlicka.  Both checks were declined.
`
`Burnsville Investigators made contact with Business 1 regarding the attempted check cashing.  The
`
`owner of Business 1 stated business checks had been stolen three months ago from their mailbox.  The
`
`owner stated she had to freeze the checking account to prevent fraud.  Investigators also spoke with the
`
`owner of Business 2.  The owner of Business 2 stated he recently had contact with Burnsville Police
`
`regarding a separate incident where someone printed fake checks from his business.  The owner stated
`
`he did not issue a check to Morgan Jedlicka and she never worked for his business.
`
`On April 8, 2022, Investigators made telephone contact with JEDLICKA.  JEDLICKA confirmed she
`
`had attempted to cash checks at the pawn shop.  JEDLICKA stated she got the checks from a friend
`
`named “Ricky.”  JEDLICKA admitted she knew Ricky made fake checks, but she needed quick money.
`
` Ricky told her if she cashed the check, she could keep $200 and she would have to give the rest to him.
