`Pursuant to the Patent and Trademark Office’s Final Rule Setting and
`
`Adjusting Patent Fees, 78 Fed. Reg. 4212, 4232–4234 (Jan. 18, 2013), Sony
`
`Mobile Communications (USA) Inc. (“Petitioner”) requests a refund in the amount
`
`of $18,000 to be paid to Deposit Account Number 50-2613.
`
`On August 19, 2016, Petitioner filed a Petition for covered business method
`
`review of U.S. Patent No. 8,756,155 (“the ’155 Patent”) with the Patent Trial and
`
`Appeal Board. In accordance with the fee schedule specified in 37 C.F.R. §
`
`42.15(b), Petitioner deposited an electronic payment at the time of filing of the
`
`Petition, including $12,000 for fees associated with Petitioner’s request for review
`
`and a further $18,000 for post-institution fees.
`
`On February 13, 2017, the Board entered a Decision granting joint motion to
`
`terminate due to settlement prior to institution. Accordingly, Petitioner requests a
`
`refund in the amount of $18,000 for the post-institution fees that it has paid, which
`
`are no longer necessary.
