`
`Career Highlights
`Mentoring
`- Mentored scores of engineers who made significant contributions to the design and implementation
`of medical devices.
`- Held leadership positions, managing the activities of up to ten engineers and technicians.
`Process Engineering
`-
`Experienced in all phases of small diameter medical extrusions. Specified equipment and
`implemented first use for Cordis of most of their polymer melt processes.
`Experienced in all phases of catheter manufacturing.
`-
`- Developed Cordis’ first commercially successful angioplasty balloon blowing process. Process used
`for 35 years.
`- Developed stent/balloon attachment methods, received the Philip B Hoffman Research Scientist
`Award.

`
`
`
`
`
`Implemented electropolishing process for cobalt-chrome alloys using chemicals of low toxicity.
`-
`Involved in the most important process troubleshooting needs of the company.
`-
`Interfaced with FDA inspectors during facility inspections and technical discussions.
`-
`- Well versed in polymer properties.
`
`Design Experience
`- Development of highly radiopaque soft tips for angiographic and guide catheters, Cordis Brite Tip®
`catheters.
`Introduced first use of several polymer chemistries to catheter construction. A variety of commercial
`products are based on these polymers including: Stent Delivery Systems, PTCA catheters, PTA
`catheters, coronary angiographic catheters, guide catheters and neurological catheters.
`Together with two other collaborators devised “semi-compliant balloon technology” that is used by
`all manufacturers of angioplasty balloons.
`Introduced multiple layer extrusions, used in the construction of several important products.
`-
`- Designed kink resistance shaft components for rapid exchange catheters. This design resulted in a
`rapid increase in sales over previous designs.
`Introduced new silicone materials and designs to medical simulator industry.
