`I can't remember if it was Inside the Black Box, or on MacBreak, but I think that watching those interviews back
`in 2006 was the first time I realised that RED was real, and I've been on the forums (DVXUser, then REDUser)
`dreaming of owning one since then!

`I remember reading something about it earlier, and visiting what I think was the first RED website (which was
`pretty rubbish, made in Flash with very few details) and thinking it was either one of those research projects that
`never goes anywhere, or just a scam.

`To me Red means how the vision and determination of one person (Jim Jannard) has changed the process of
`filmmaking to some extent. That is no mean achievement considering many factors including penetrating the
`mindset of some established DPs and other important persons. However, as somebody who is connected to digital
`imaging, I also find myself less excited about Red. Several years back I really thought highly of Red; I still
`appreciate it as a great company. But, Red's lack of delivery has mellowed me down a little, considering it has
`been there for now about 5 years. I think Red still has a chance considering its competition, but it appears
`something is messed up in manufacturing and production.

`After talking with Frederic (Lumiere) it was apparent that none of the companies (mostly Japanese) were ever
`going to do a proper film replacement camera. That was early 2005.
`
`Frederic told me about Ted and the three of us spent the better part of a year investigating what it would take to
`do the project I had envisioned. All seemed lost… until we found "the Mysterium" sensor. When we found this
`technology… I pulled the trigger.
`
`We had a large group of people come to Oakley for a round table meeting at the end of 2005.

`At NAB 2006 we showed up with a "shiny" prototype designed by myself and Matt… plus a few others. Around this
`time, Jarred showed up. And Graeme was there by the grace of Frederic.

`At the end of the meeting… I was committed.
`
`RED was born.
`
`We really has no idea what we were doing. I did the original color science. Mercifully Graeme took over from
`there.
