`
`OFFICIAL SHOW GUIDE
`
`EXPERIENCE TECHNOLOGY
`
`
`Iampleasedtoextendahardywelcome
`
`to the 2014 Canada’s Outdoor Farm
`Show. With the winter of 2014 behind
`us and the challenges Mother Nature
`seems to be throwing us every week you
`will want to be sure to get to the show to
`see whatis new that may assist in making
`daily tasks a little easier. The team at
`Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show are con-
`stantly cultivating new technologies for
`you to experience at the show. In fact, a
`visit to the farm show, in many caseslets
`you experience technology.
`I am often asked what my favourite
`part of Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show is.I
`have lots of favourite parts. Like many of
`you reading articles in the guide, the sto-
`ries capture my interest and I wantto learn
`more. Here are a few favouritesthis year.
`
`THE FIELDS
`The big field demonstration this year is
`our Cover Crop Tillage Demonstration.
`Agronomist Pat Lynch has been talking
`about this at many farm meetings and
`through his manyarticles is inviting you to
`come to see the machinery in action that
`can make incorporating cover crops much
`more valuable. A must-see for anyone
`interested in managing cover crops.
`Conditions for growingfield crops are
`experiencing another extreme this year.
`Crop farmers will want to spend some
`
`time in the crop demonstrations areas to
`see what seed varieties are going be best
`going into the fall harvest season.
`Biomass is becoming more valuable as
`a source for energy. Vermeer will be lead-
`ing a demonstration on the improvements
`in machinery to manage switchgrass and
`miscanthus crops.
`
`LIVESTOCK CENTRAL
`This year celebrates six years for the
`Britespan Dairy Innovation Centre that
`features operating DeLaval VMSand Lely
`Astronaut A4 robotic milking systems.
`The 15 companies withrelated dairy prod-
`ucts and services meetearly each spring to
`keep the experience new. This year, two
`new components of the dairy experience
`will be the new Dairy Pavilion located just
`outside the entrance to the dairy barn. We
`have also decided to include a 9" by 15°
`video wall that is going to illustrate the
`features of the equipmentin the barn.
`
`BEHIND THE WHEEL
`The Ram Test Drive is back againthis year.
`The new 2014 Ram V-6 Eco Diesel will be
`highlighted this year. Toyota is also’ offer-
`ing the opportunity to test drive the
`recently redesigned Tundraline of pick up
`trucks.
`
`The Canadian Energy Expo is display-
`ing a compressed natural gas tanker truck
`
`that is going to make natural gas available
`for more applications.
`
`LOTS TO SEE AND DO
`
`The complete 2014 Exhibitor Listing and
`Official Pocket Program are included in
`this issue of the Ontario Farmer. You can
`also source all the farm show information
`on the Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show App
`for smartphones.
`| hope youare as excited as I am to see
`all of the new technology that awaits us
`this fall. In a few short weeks, there will be
`750 exhibitors ready to showcase, sell and
`demonstrate their products or services to
`help Canadians continue to lead the pack
`as some of the globe’s most progressive
`farmers. Whether through large field dem-
`onstrations or intimate one-on-one dem-
`onstrations at their lots, our exhibitors are
`ready to help farmers experience their
`technology.
`Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show is
`known to be “Where Farmers Meet” and
`more accurately where farmers meet to
`experience technology. Come experience
`the farm show. Most everyone is going to
`be there. It is the place to be!

` 014 has been named the International Year of Family
`
`Farming, and in the Chinese Zodiac,it’s also the Year of the
`Horse. Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show (COFS) is working to
`bring the two together by including several equine exhibitors in
`its exhibitor list this year.
`Arguably, the biggest edition to the exhibitor lineupthis year
`is the Ontario Equestrian Federation (OEF). The OEF is the gov-
`erning body for all equestrian activities in the province, and has
`partnered with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) for
`their Member Benefit Program. Visit the OEF in the OFA
`Pavilion for industry questions and information on their many
`programs for horse owners andriders.
`Several companies also cater to an equine audience in addi-
`tion to livestock. Building companies like Britespan Building
`Structures also construct riding arenas, while companies like

`that will help to improve animal welfare
`on farms. Examples include, the
`Gallagher Sheep Auto Drafter, a fully
`automatic drafting and weighing sys-

`New for 2014 to the Brussels Agri
`Services Ltd. lineup is the MarWeld Ezy
`Handler Chute, the latest solution for
`vaccinating and drenching large flocks.
`This portable unit allows for easy access
`to the animal while keeping it secureat
`the same time. Animals can remain
`calm and be worked with quickly.
`The Pasture Grazing Demo, also
