`Request for Extension of Time for Opposition to Petition for Certiorari
`
`We represent Respondent Yonas Fikre in the case referenced above. The Solicitor General filed a
`petition for a writ of certiorari on June 2, 2023 (after receiving one 59-day extension), and this
`matter was placed on the docket on June 6, 2023. Respondent’s brief in opposition is due on July 6,
`2023. Pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 30.4, we write to request a 45-day extension of time to file a
`brief in opposition to the petition. Respondent has not previously sought an extension of time in
`this case.

`Counsel requires additional time to fully respond to the arguments presented in the petition.
`Counsel has only recently secured specialized Supreme Court co-counsel to assist in the preparation
`of the brief in opposition. Counsel has also faced a press of other business, including conducting
`depositions, preparing numerous briefs, and preparing for oral argument before the U.S. Court of
`Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in Abdallah v. Mesa Air Group, No. 22-10686 (5th Cir.). A 45-day
`extension would not prevent the Court from considering the petition at its September 26, 2023
`conference.

`For these reasons, Respondent respectfully requests a 45-day extension of time, until August 21,
`2023,1 to file a brief in opposition.

`1 The requested 45-day extension ends on August 20, 2023, which is a Sunday. Under this
`Court’s Rule 30.1, the period is therefore extended until August 21, 2023, which is the next day
`that is not a Saturday, Sunday, federal legal holiday, or day on which the Court building is
`closed.
