`on July 13, 2010, Converse, Inc. (“Opposer”), a corporation organized under the laws of Delaware, with

`its principal place of business at One High Street, North Andover, Massachusetts 01845-2601, believes

`that it will be damaged by registration of the mark shown in Serial No. 77/951,985 and hereby opposes
`
`registration. An initial thirty—day extension of time to file a notice of opposition was timely filed on
`
`August 12, 2010, an additional sixty—day extension of time to file a notice of opposition was timely filed
`
`on September 10, 2010, and a final extension of time was timely filed with Applicant’s consent on
`
`November 9, 2010, which cumulatively extended the deadline to file the notice of opposition to January
`
`9, 201 1.

`The grounds for opposition are as follows:

`Opposer is a corporation, doing business as Converse, Inc, organized under the laws of

`Opposer has been and continues to be engaged in the business of designing, marketing
`
`and selling footwear, athletic apparel, clothing, sporting goods and other goods and related services in the
`
`United States and abroad.

`Since at least 1916, Opposer has used at various times in interstate commerce marks
`
`including a prominent five-pointed star design (“Star Marks”) to identify footwear, athletic apparel,
`
`clothing, sporting goods and other related goods and services originating fiom the Opposer in commerce.

`For example, as shown in U.S. Reg. No. 741,662 for 19* , Opposer first used a five pointed star
`
`design as early as October of 1916. Since that time, Opposer developed and actively uses a family of
`
`marks including a prominent five—pointed star design to identify goods and services originating from
`
`Opposer.

`Opposer has common law rights and trademark registrations for the Star Marks, including

`the following United States trademark registrations for some of its Star Marks:
