`Google Ventures' Entire Investment Team
`Finally Revealed
`
`By Scott Austin
`
`April 30, 2010 418 pm ET
`
`Ever since Google Inc. launched its venture capital arm about a year ago, it's remained furtive
`about staffing.
`
`The company said in March 2009 that Google Ventures' investments would be vetted by
`William Maris, the founder of Web hosting company Burlee.com who joined Google in 2008,
`and Rich Miner, a co-founder of Android. Until yesterday, those two were the only ones listed
`on Google Ventures' team page, even though a few names have trickled out, such as Joe Kraus,
`a serial entrepreneur who sold JotSpot to Google in 2006, and Wesley Chan, an early
`employee responsible for Google Analytics and Google Voice.
`
`We heard Google Ventures was staffing up - and now we see they've got a full roster. The firm
`revamped its Web site and now lists eight partners (including Maris as the managing
`partner) and two venture partners. Some of these people we've seen floating around but
`there's been no official word from Google.
`
`Here are the others:
`-Karim Faris (partner), a former venture capitalist at Atlas Venture who joined Google's
`corporate development team in 2008, responsible for the company's investments and
`acquisitions. He joined Google Ventures in 2010, the Web site says.
`-Braden Kowitz (partner), a lead designer at Google who led design for Google Buzz, Gmail,
`Google Apps for Business, Google Spreadsheets, OpenSocial, and Google Trends.
`-David Krane (partner), Google's longtime head of PR and communications.
`-Krishna Yeshwant (partner), who first joined Google as part of the New Business
`Development Team. He started with Google Ventures since its inception. He was listed earlier
`this month as a "senior associate" in a press release touting the speakers for the Consumer

`Genetics Conference.
`-Scott Davis (venture partner), who contributes to Google Ventures on a part-time basis while
`he completes a post-doctoral fellowship at Dartmouth College to develop new optically-based
`cancer imaging techniques.
`-Graham Spencer (venture partner), an engineering director at Google Ventures who was one
`of the original founders of Excite.com and the former chief technology officer until its sale to
`@Home. Graham was also a co-founder of JotSpot with Kraus.
`
`Google Ventures also lists 10 "select advisors" who are Google employees, such as YouTube
`co-founders Steve Chen and Chad Hurley, and early employee Georges Harik, Chief Economist
`Hal R. Varian and Chief Technology Advocate Michael Jones.
`
`As for the firm's nine listed portfolio companies, all of those investments have been publicly
`disclosed except for Recorded Future, a new Boston area start-up that "extracts time and
`event information from the web," offering "customers new ways to analyze the past, present
`and the predicted future." (See the Boston Globe's article about this company in February.)
`Among the firm's other investments are Silver Spring Networks, which makes smart-meter
`networking technology, and Pixazza, whose Web technology lets consumers "mouse over"
`products in images to learn more about them.
`
`A representative at Google declined to comment about Google Ventures, which said a year ago
`it would commit $100 million to investments in the first 12 months.
